1st October Pastor’s Post
We need to understand that Jesus Christ was fully human and fully God. As we continue to look at the human side of Jesus Christ we see that just like you and I, Christ did not want to experience death.
(Luke 22:39 NIV) Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.
(Luke 22:40 NIV) On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”
(Luke 22:41 NIV) He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed,
(Luke 22:42 NIV) “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
(Luke 22:43 NIV) An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.
(Luke 22:44 NIV) And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
(Luke 22:45 NIV) When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.
Even though Christ did not want to go through with the painful death he was to experience. He was willing to give his life so that you and I can have eternal life. On that night the love of God give us hope that there is coming a time when death will be no more.
(1 Cor 15:55 NIV) “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
(1 Cor 15:56 NIV) The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
(1 Cor 15:57 NIV) But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(1 Cor 15:58 NIV) Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
All God asks of us is to allow Christ to come and live his perfect life in us.
(Acts 2:38 NIV) Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
(Acts 2:39 NIV) The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off–for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
