2nd Oct. Pastors Post

October 4, 2010

How is your prayer life? When Jesus was on this earth his disciples came to him and asked him to teach them how  to pray. Over in Mathew 6:7-15, Christ gave his disciples and us today an outline on how to pray. Notice what we are told to do as we begin our prayers.

(Mat 6:7 NIV)  And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

(Mat 6:8 NIV)  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Then we are told, This is how to begin our prayers. We begin with praise and thanks to our heavenly Father.

(Mat 6:9 NIV)  “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

(Mat 6:10 NIV)  your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
We praise God for his wonderful love for us, we thanks him for the many blessing he has given us and then we ask that his rule and way of life come to this earth. We ask for the return of his Son Jesus Christ to bring peace to all mankind. We need to show our love toward our heavenly Father before we begin to place all our needs before Him.
Next week we will look at how to ask God for help in our lives.
May God bless you in this coming week.
